title: New Year's Eve

I got the news yesterday that...
I'M GOING FOR THE HP INTERVIEW! :D :D :D
I was so happy that I jumped around and cheered. Ha ha. So I think I'm in, and now it's a matter of whether or not I'll get the scholarship. YAY!!!!!! PTL :D :D

Today we had a sort of New Year's party with my relatives at my place. And my uncle brought his helium tank and a huge bag of the many different cool balloons he has. Like a huge smiling face, smaller smileys, eyeballs, aliens and those long, long twisty balloons.

So my uncle gave us a "lesson" on making animals with the long balloons :D Soon we had this entire colourful pile of balloon dogs, rabbits, elephants, giraffes, parrots, a flower etc. There was this yellow balloon specially designed for making a bee with a little black sting at the end! I am now more or less schooled in simple ballooncraft. HAHA. I also have a huge yellow smiley floating in my house now.

title: Flying high among all the stars above

These have been an eventful few days.

But anyway, after all the testimonies given during Saturday's service and after Wendy spoke to me I am reminded of God's greatness and His BIG plans for us little people.

Through You
I can do anything
I can do all things
For it's You who gives me strength
Nothing is impossible

On a sidenote, it was hilarious when Calvin got fooled about his gift LOLLLLLL!

Went out with my family yesterday and we had lunch at Out of the Pan in Raffles City. It's the place where they serve crepes filled with...oh, lots of things. You can choose. And the crepes we ordered were really nice (except for the seafood one because I do NOT like seafood)! We walked around Raffles City a bit before going to catch Sherlock Holmes and I managed to get a skirt from fcuk. Although the buttons were missing from all 3 skirts on display! When we asked the salesgirl about it she made no effort to remedy the situation...simply because there were extra buttons on the skirts. And so they started sewing on the extra buttons on the other 2 skirts. But not mine. -.-

Sherlock Holmes was GREAT :D I loved the drama and the wit :D There was, of course, the all-too-familiar line often uttered my Holmes: "The game is afoot!" HAHA. So far, my favourite crime characters have always been Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot 'cause they're so darn clever! (:

After Christmas Eve service.
Daniel, Belle and Bertrand.
Nat and Belle.
Andrea, Sonia and Russell. We spent quite a lot of our childhood together haha :D
Debbie and Jo on Christmas Day.
This was on Saturday during the last Crossover service.
There were around 9 photos of this variety lol.
Look at this Youth Pastor! Hahaha.
Josh. Lol.
The stuff I got on the 26th (:
Anyway, Facebook is extremely annoying. Ha ha.

Hello.

Tomorrow is the last Crossover service (before we become a third service next year). I am filled with this feeling of not knowing what's going to happen. Something like a cross between excitement and apprehension. Maybe it's partly 'cause I'm supposed to share a testimony tomorrow too. I am nervous!

I really don't know what to expect. But I'm sure God will show the way.

Let's see how it goes tomorrow.

Anyhow, Christmas Eve and today were fun! Can't wait for tomorrow (:

title: Because of His great love for us

It's Christmas Eve! (:

The holidays have passed SO quickly. At least for once I get to escape the 'School reopens on 4th (or 5th) January' thing. The 5th thing is always a source of gloating for those who are in the indep schools. Haha! Still, school for me starts in mid-Jan unlike all the lucky O-level dudes who start at the end of January. I don't really wanna be reminded of school, schoolwork, projects, orientation, HP application and the like. I just wanna continue in this holiday mood of being carefree, with little to do, nothing to worry about but what I'm going to do right now, just for a while longer.

Oh dear. Time to get fat on Christmas food. And open Christmas presents. And enjoy what's left of 2009. Well, it's Christmas Eve service tonight. I hope that in the heat and festivity of Christmas, people (including myself) will not forget its true meaning and really, really thank God for sending Jesus to us :D

My cycling plans today were dashed once again because of the rain -.-

I typed this entire post quite gingerly because I just painted my nails blue last night. Because I couldn't find Christmas green ):

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

title: Business

I have been kind of busy lately. I haven't used the computer in like 3 days!

I went for the Jitterbugs classes on Friday with Sam and Deb. It was fun considering I hadn't gone for dance in lightyears and of course I got to meet up with those 2 nice (but weird!) friends of mine 'cause I haven't seen them since school closed I think.

I went to town on Saturday with my aunt again to get some stuff for Christmas, and then later I went for Nancy's friend's church Christmas concert at AC Barker.

And I spent the entire duration of yesterday at Aloha Loyang with Crossover dudes. It was pretty fun I guess!

Mu parents mentioned that whatever agreements made during the Copenhagen climate conference were not binding. I was shell-shocked.

Sometimes you get bored of not having anything to do. Then when you have lots of stuff happening and all, you just long for some peace and quiet.

Now I don't know what colour to paint my fingernails. I wanted Christmas green but I couldn't find it. ):

Today I ate a lot.

I went out with my aunt (: First it was Korean BBQ, then after about 2 hours, it was dessert at Big O. After that we walked over to Far East to grab my favourite Shih Lin chicken. Haha. Next year I won't have many opportunities to eat that anymore ):

title: Everyone

went to Sentosa yesterday with my camp groupmates for some sort of a picnic. We all brought something and found a spot on Siloso Beach where we sat down and ate. Some of us were expecting it to be an awkward session ('cause it was initially like that during camp when we first had breakfast together) but it wasn't :D The banter was quite easygoing and funny actually. HAHA!

We played a bit of Captain's Ball and frisbee before the rain started to fall, totally dampening the beach spirit (both literally and figuratively) for everyone there. Fortunately there was a shelter nearby and we moved all our stuff in there and started entertaining ourselves with lame jokes and the like. It was really amazing how we thought up (weird) stuff to do! Like building a "sandcastle", which we said was our version of Heaven. Lol.

Slowly the beach grew more and more empty. There was still a wedding couple taking photos though. It was only at 7 that we made a move to Vivo. I didn't join Wezen for dinner though. But they sent me to the mrt and said "Bye Dorothy!" in unison. HA HA!

I caught The Princess and the Frog this morning with Abi. It was really nice, charming and made me REAL happy, as all Disney movies always do. When there is a glimmer of hope, the character's face will break out suddenly into this wide smile that is so filled with pure joy and delight that your heart is instantly touched and tears spring into your eyes. Disney always manages that (:

After that we had this ultra-WEIRD experience eating lunch in TM. The waiters were SO weird. I mean yeah, they were prompt and all but they just couldn't mind their own business for nuts! Let me tell you the weirdest thing that they did: There was a huge fan nearby for ventilation and it wasn't oscillating. In the middle of our meal, they suddenly decided to blast this giant fan at us for no apparent reason. I was extremely irritated by that whole experience, and I will never ever go back there to eat again! -.-

Anyway, as a sidenote, here's pictures from Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. This is the Banco Espanol De Credito.
Beautiful stained glass in one of the cathedrals.
I think, if my translation does not fail me, this is a post office. (:
Check out the amazing selection of mushrooms...
...and sweets at the La Boqueria market :O
I FINALLY FINISHED UPLOADING MY BARCELONA PICS ON FB. PHEW!

This is the beach near where we stayed in Barcelona. And those are my sister's and my shadows HAHA :D This is also the beach where we spotted 2 (not-so-hot) men baring their all. And I mean all. ;) How disturbing.

Anyway, yesterday's floorball game was really fun and tiring and I hope we can go play again sometime!

Today I almost got knocked down by a car. I was crossing this tiny road at Katong Shopping Centre (there's no major traffic there at all) and a car was parallel-parking there. So I thought he had come to a stop, or maybe I assumed that he had seen me, so I went behind the car towards the curb. Then I realised he had started reversing again!! So I quickly skipped onto the curb, having gotten a VERY VERY rude shock. There were 2 guys sitting nearby who had seen it and they were like, "EHHHH. Aiyo!" Stupid, careless driver. I suppose I should have been more vigilant as well. I really thank God for protecting me :O What if I had been tapped my his boot or something. I'll choose not to imagine the outcome.

*yawns* See ya!

HELLEWWW. I am still sieving out pictures from my Barcelona trip to post. It's taking a teeeeerribly long time manzxz.

I feel like a good-for-nothing lately. HAHA. I mean ever since coming back from camp I have been lazing around at home without going out much. Wanted to go for a swim this morning (it's been ages!!!!) 'cause the weather was SO good but my mum didn't want me to. -.- So today I pretty much just went for a haircut, or should I say a trim, nearby. Later I shall watch the SEA games swimming finals on TV. On that note, Joshua swam yesterday in the 4x200 relay and they got a gold medal! WHOOHOOOO! Hahaha. And Calvin was like sending a running commentary via text message to the entire Crossover Ministry. But anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing Joshua and Russell swim later.

Alright, at least my feelings of good-for-nothingness are going to be somewhat abated tomorrow. I shall be having lunch with my grandpa in the afternoon and then it's floorball with cellies in the evening (:

Oh yes. I think I should get started with my Christmas notes soon too.

Anyway, a snapshot of the area near where we lived (called Barceloneta) in Barcelona :D

title: Yo DYC!

Came back from camp yesterday!

It was fun and I really enjoyed it for the encounters with God and of course, the company and getting to know new people from the other Anglican churches (: Now everyone is adding everyone on Facebook. Inevitable right HAHAHA.

My group was called Wezen (ya I know right, it sounds weird. It's supposed to be the name of a star or something. And we didn't get a chance to do our super-cool cheer man! ): ). But anyway, Wezen was a really fun bunch and we got along really well together :D I thought the group sharing and the sessions were really, really good. You could really see God working in all our lives and the amazing ways in which He worked - so subtle, yet so influential. Mike Pilavachi is a REALLY REALLY GOOD SPEAKER. He's so funny, and he uses analogies (complete with a million and one jokes) to illustrate his points. And then at the end he will wait for the Holy Spirit come upon us (:

The games were pretty fun too and I bet the ONE game we will remember for a long time (for those who played it) is the Frozen Chicken aka Jackson Captain's Ball! OMGOSH. It was hilarious! In an extremely gross way. The players' hands stank for a full 24 hours I think! Of course, there were the requisite water bombs too. (Oh horror! HAHA) And I totally shouted too much during the games and now I have lost my voice. How awesome. ): I hope it returns really soon!

I'd like a Crossover-only camp next year though. 'Cause I haven't really ben for one yet. Heh. And I got a Crossover lanyard in the end. HAH.

Here's Wezen with our flag :D

I'm off to Combined Youth Camp later! We'll be heading to JB and I really hope it'll be a great, super-fun experience with God and everyone, from church and outside church.

Haha I finally finished The Camel Club after reading intensely for 3 days (it was gonna be returned this morning so I had to hurry haha). Oh yeah, and I really like Agatha Christie's Mary Westmacott collection. She seems to delve right into the heart of human feelings. I mean yeah, some feelings are more special when left undescribed, but her points really trike you an make an impression.

I am still in the process of picking out photos among the 19++ that I took in Spain to post up. Shall continue when I get back. HAHA!

And I really hope that I'll find something meaningful to do for the rest of this holidays (:

title: The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plains

So I am back from Barcelona!

It's such a great place. Except for a little unsavoury encounter, the trip was cool. The weather was really nice and fine and sunny with blue and cloudless skies, although it rained on one day and got extremely cold towards the end, and the architecture and scenery there are amazing! There is this intriguing guy called Antoni Gaudi whose architecture was so modern that it's considered one of the most modern now though it was created a century ago. Wait till you see the pictures of his AWESOME architecture. Yes I mean really awesome; this word is used too loosely nowadays, even by myself!

The food was SO GOOD I tell you. No, that's an understatement. I looked forward to every meal and the food never failed to amaze me. I especially loved the tapas (that's something unique to the Spaniards). It's food that comes in small portions, supposedly to accompany the drinking of alcohol. And the prices were worth it too. Without all this good food the holiday would totally have shagged me out! I was already drained as it was after every day!

Haha another thing was the language. It was so hard to communicate with them. And then you go to those restaurants, look at the menu and go, "Um. I don't understand anything here! How'm I gonna order?!" HAHAHA. Luckily the waiters/waitresses could somehow explain, although sometimes not so clearly. It had its advantages - I got to/had to try new stuff! (: I tried seafood (which is normally a big NO-NO for me ew) and pig's trotter :O And anyway, I think cured meat is horrible!

Ok. I shall let the picture speak for themselves when I post them soon! I took close to 2000 with my camera! And my dad, mum and sis each have a camera too so I shall post nice ones from theirs as well :D

Spain's a beautiful place!
